Altcoin season index records 53... BTC-Alt showdown begins in earnest
The market leadership competition between altcoins and Bitcoin appears to have become more intense. According to the comprehensive virtual asset information platform CoinMarketCap, as of July 20, the 'Altcoin season index' recorded 53. This indicates that the performance of altcoins and Bitcoin has reached a similar level.
The Altcoin season index is calculated based on the ratio of cryptocurrencies (excluding stablecoins and wrapped coins) in the top 100 by market capitalization, whose returns over the last 90 days are higher than Bitcoin's. If more than 75% of these coins achieve returns higher than Bitcoin, it is considered an 'Altcoin season,' and the closer the index is to 100, the stronger the intensity.
This figure suggests that altcoins are slightly dominant, but it's still early to consider it a clear shift in leadership. There is a growing interest in how long the upward trend of altcoins can last, coinciding with the strong trend of Bitcoin.
